Dualvoice coil (DVC) subwoofers must be wired in series for the best audio quality because this increases impedance and ensures that power and voltage pass through without interruption. First, plug the amplifier's positive output into Voice Coil 1's positive lead to connect them. After that, join the negative leads of Voice Coils 1 and 2
1 Single Voice Coil (SVC): A single voice coil (SVC) is a coil configuration commonly found in subwoofers. It indicates there is only one coil of wire wound around a cylindrical former within the subwoofer's magnetic structure. The single voice coil design simplifies the wiring process as it requires connecting the amplifier to only one set
0 St. Louis, MO. Sep 6, 2011. #13. wiring only one voice coil to a dvc is not bad for the sub, but it does indeed reduce power handling by half. also, the Q will rise, causing a peakier response at resonance. best option at this point is to wire for 4 ohm.
Amp 2 x 20 Watts RMS Extended/full range speakers: 8 ohms each (single voice coil or SVC for short) The manual that came with my amplifier didn't specify whether or not that 2 x 20 Watts figure was at 4 or 8 ohms. I assume 4 ohms as it'd make a good selling point (20 x 2 at 4 ohms sounds better than 10 x 2 at 8 ohms). Manual just stated the amplifier was stable down to 4 ohms.
